Life Saving Screenings

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women in the United States. Osteoporosis, which is a degenerative bone disease that primarily affects post-menopausal women, is a threat to 28 million Americans. It is estimated that one in two women over 50 will have an osteoporosis fracture.

With the recommended screening mammogram, breast ultrasound or bone density exams, we can save lives and prevent debilitating diseases. However they are often avoided by patients because of the stress and anxiety that accompanies any test for cancer. The stress is multiplied when patients are shuffled between offices for different tests to see a different specialist.

Our center provides “one stop shopping” for screening and diagnostics tests that aid in cancer prevention, and in the diagnosis of other ailments that affect women. A team of specialists, including breast radiologists, surgical oncologists and gynecological oncologists are on site and available to interpret the exams.

Our integrated breast health services include:

Screening and diagnostic mammograms, which are provided with the latest low dose mammography equipment and interpreted by a dedicated breast radiologist.
On site breast ultrasound to detect breast cancers that may not be seen on the mammogram. If an ultrasound guided breast biopsy is needed, the procedure is done using the newest vacuum assisted biopsy device. This allows the infusion of a local anesthetic and minimizes patient discomfort.

Valley Women’s Care also provides these other important services:
  • Pelvic ultrasound exams to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers that may afflict women.
  • Bone density exams to aid in the early diagnosis of osteoporosis, a disease which affects millions of women in this country alone.
  • The center’s medical staff also provides second opinion services, surgical consultation, patient education and training and genetic counseling for high risk individuals.
